A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable investment account that allows donors to contribute money, stocks, or other assets to support charities. Donors receive an immediate tax deduction for their contributions, and the funds can be invested for tax-free growth.

The IRS rollover regulation of 2011 was extended indefinitely. This provision enables those 70 ½ and older to make contribution directly from their IRA up to $100,000 directly to a charity without tax penalties.

A gift of long-term appreciated securities may provide you with greater tax advantages than a gift of cash. You may deduct the current fair market value as a charitable gift and avoid any capital gains tax on the appreciation.
