The Patient Services Department offers a variety of financial assistance programs for patients with a diagnosis of end-stage renal disease who are on dialysis, working towards a transplant, or participating in a treatment program at a chronic kidney disease clinic. These programs provide help with dental care, emergency living expenses, food, medications, nutritional supplements, and transportation. Referral from a renal social worker or dietitian is required to apply for assistance.
Education programs for patients and renal professionals are also available. Education programs for patients include scholarships to help pay for tuition and books, “Ask the Doc” discussion forums, and the development of a revised edition of a cookbook for people on dialysis. Education programs for renal professionals include the joint sponsorship of annual seminars together with Arizona chapters of the Council of Nephrology Social Workers and organization of an annual Southwest Nephrology Conference.
