The National Kidney Foundation of Arizona is deeply saddened by the loss of its friend and Board Member, Dr. Bob Cohen. Dr. Cohen was an integral part of the kidney foundation for over 18 years, serving as a member of the Board of Directors and a vocal advocate for Arizona's kidney patients.
Dr. Cohen served as Chair of the NKF AZ Medical Advisory Board since 2010, and on its Finance Committee for the past 7 years. Most recently, Dr. Cohen was focused on stronger engagement with primary care providers to reduce the incidence of kidney disease in Arizona. He was a speaker on this topic at the annual conference of the American Society for Clinical Pathology and he was scheduled to speak again at the 2020 Southwest Nephrology Conference. But the program he was most passionate about was the Path to Wellness free community health screenings (formerly known as K.E.E.P. - Kidney Early Evaluation Program), of which he was the longest and most consistent physician volunteer, offering on-site consultations to those who may otherwise have not had access to a doctor. He was always willing to volunteer whenever needed, making it work with his busy schedule, and often stopped by the office simply to see how the foundation and its staff were doing. He will be missed by staff, board, and the kidney community.
By request, a page has been created for those who wish to give a gift in memory of Dr. Cohen (see below). Acknowledgment of the gift will also be sent to the Cohen family. If you have questions regarding a memorial gift, please call the foundation at (602) 840-1644.
