We are pleased to provide this community report highlighting both the essential services we provide as well as our audited financial statements for the past fiscal year. In a year of transition and new perspectives, we have remained committed to our core mission to provide life-sustaining assistance to Arizona’s Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients and their families, educate the community about kidney health and advocate for organ donation.

Kidney disease is increasing worldwide. Recent estimates show the rate of kidney disease in the United States has jumped 30 percent. An astonishing 26 million American adults are estimated to be living with CKD.

AKF provides important kidney health information to the community at large as well as critical support to patients and families suffering with CKD. By hosting free community health screenings, providing direct patient aid and presenting community wellness education programs, AKF provides vital assistance to all Arizonans.

Early detection and treatment of CKD, increasingly recognized as a major health problem, can improve patient outcomes and reduce costs. AKF plans to launch a new public awareness campaign to address this growing concern. Our goal is to educate the community about the importance of kidneys to overall health and to suggest a proactive role in pursuing good kidney health.

We are fortunate to have a community that responds in such a significant way to support those coping with kidney disease. The 27th Annual Women’s Board Authors Luncheon was, again, a significant community event as was the inaugural Dancing with the Stars Arizona gala. Your support, whether through an annual gift, attendance at a special event or a planned gift, enables us to meet the growing demand for our services.

We thank you, our community members, for working with us to improve the quality of life for all Arizonans.

Warmest regards,

Jeff Weintraub
